At the Savannah Children's Museum, you'll find over a dozen exhibits designed with kids in mind and plenty of fun stuff for kids to do, including an exploration maze, a reading nook, and a sensory garden.

2. Georgia State Railroad Museum

Georgia State Railroad Museum is located across the street from the children's museum, so you can easily visit both museums in one day! This popular railroad museum is located in Tricentennial Park at the old Central of Georgia Railway Repair Shops Complete and Terminal Facilities. Your family can tour historic railcars, ride on a handcar, and take a tour of the property on a historic diesel or steam locomotive.

3. Tybee Island

If your family is craving some fun in the sun, head to Tybee Island for the perfect beach day. 4. Savannah History Museum

If you're looking for an educational experience with your kids in Savannah, the Savannah History Museum is a fabulous spot to visit. Though this museum is on the smaller side, it's filled with exhibits about Savannah's hundreds of years of history, including Native Americans, Colonial Savannah, Savannah in the American Revolution, and more.

This local museum also features an exhibit on Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts, who is from Savannah. The museum also houses the iconic bench from Forrest Gump, one of the most famous movies filmed in Savannah.

5. Outdoor Attractions

Savannah has beautiful weather for most of the year, and one of the best ways to enjoy it is to get outside and enjoy some of Savannah's best natural and outdoor attractions. You and your family can head to the Oatland Island Wildlife Center to meet the 95 animals and 39 different species that call the 100 acres of maritime forest home, like bison, bobcats, cows, foxes, and hawks, or you can hike, bike, fish, or spot local wildlife in the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge.

If you're looking for something a bit closer to Downtown Savannah, consider heading down to River Street to take a free ferry ride on the Savannah River from the historic district to Hutchinson Island, home of the Savannah Convention Center. On the way, you'll see the famous Waving Girl Statue and beautiful views of the city's skyline. The Savannah Historic District is filled with many fun attractions for kids and adults. You can rent bikes or walk around to see the historic sites, parks, and squares, like Ellis Square or Forsyth Park, or sit back and relax on a trolley tour of Savannah's Historic District.

Trolley tours generally include stops at City Market, Broughton Street, River Street, Forsyth Park, and other famous spots in Savannah. You'll also likely stop at burial grounds and haunted cemeteries, like Colonial Park Cemetery, and several of Savannah's famous squares, including Madison Square, Taylor Square, and Franklin Square.

7. UGA Marine Education Center & Aquarium

UGA Marine Education Center & Aquarium is located on Skidaway Island, just a 20-minute drive from Downtown Savannah. While you're here, you'll be able to see tons of local marine life found along the coast of Georgia, including horseshoe crabs, stingrays, lionfish, sea turtles, and more. There are more than 200 marine animals here in 16 unique exhibit tanks — making this a fun way to spend the day in Savannah with kids!

While the parents enjoy a craft beer at this local beer garden, kids can enjoy tasty, fun food from the kid's menu, including grilled cheese and hot dogs.
