6 Fun Easter Events in Savannah

The arrival of Spring means Easter is just around the corner! This year Easter falls on March 31 and there are several Easter events happening that week for those who come to Savannah to celebrate. There's an epic Easter egg hunt in the park, local concerts, weekend tours, and even a river cruise with the Easter bunny himself!

Here are six activities South Key Management recommends for getting in the Easter spirit.

Events and Activities on Easter in Savannah

1 – The Savannah Music Festival

From March 28th to April 13th, the Savannah Music Festival will be in full swing! This annual event celebrates both modern and traditional musical artists throughout the theaters and squares of Savannah's historic district. Discover a broad spectrum of genres including everything from classical symphonies to upbeat jazz bands and so much more.

Check out the festival lineup for a long list of concerts happening the week before Easter Sunday and the week after. Get your tickets for the Easter Sunday concert featuring Renée Fleming at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts - one of the festival's most acclaimed singers and winner of 5 Grammy awards!

2 - Old Town Trolley Tour

Old Town Trolley tours offer a variety of tours all week long, but the 1-day Old Town Trolley Tour is the only one available on Easter Sunday. Still, this specific tour was voted one of the best tours in Savannah! It has 15 stops including Forsyth Park, City Market, the Davenport House Museum, and many more historical locations. Tour guides always make it fun and the open-air ride makes it easy to take great pictures of historic Savannah. Trolly's run 9am to 5pm, with tours departing every 20 minutes.

3 – Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday March 30th, from 10am to 12:15pm, children of all ages can bring a basket and participate in the Easter Eggstravaganza that is the Riverside Park Easter egg hunt! We think the Easter Egg Hunt at Riverside Park is the perfect pre-Easter activity for the entire family. Kids are grouped by age then can hunt together at a designated time. Register kids ages 2 to 12 for the egg hunt online.

4 – Attend Easter Church Services

If you want to attend an Easter Mass or Sunday service while you are in town, there are churches of all denominations near Savannah's Historic District and even on Tybee Island. Whether you're looking for an Easter sunrise service or something later in the day so you can enjoy Easter brunch first, you're sure to find one that works for you.

Visitors will also find several places of worship just outside the city. For example, Tybee Island churches invite visitors to their Easter services as well. Discover Tybee Island churches like Trinity Chapel Methodist just north of Tybee Island pier or Saint Michael's Catholic Church.

Visit each church's website for specific service times on Easter weekend.

5 – Easter Brunch

Food is such a huge draw for Savannah and weekend brunch is in its own category. Local restaurants will be hosting brunches Easter weekend, so all you have to do is choose what type of food you are in the mood for. The gourmet southern cuisine in Savannah takes the Easter brunch holiday tradition to a whole other level. Check out our post on popular brunch spots or take a look at our Food & Bars page for more options.

Since it is a holiday weekend, we recommend making reservations for Easter Sunday brunch.

6 – Easter Cruise

We often recommend doing a cruise while in Savannah because it is such a unique way to see the city. Luckily, Savannah Riverboat Cruises is offering two cruises on Easter Sunday: one brunch cruise and one dinner cruise. The brunch cruise with the Easter bunny will set sail at 1pm, featuring brunch and lunch dishes. The dinner cruise will set sail at 7pm and feature a dinner buffet. Both cruises are a great way for families to celebrate Easter in savannah.

Easter is one of the first holidays of the year and Savannah is the perfect place to celebrate it with the whole family. Book your Easter stay now through South Key Management, to avoid those extra booking fees. South Key Management – the key to your Southern comfort.
