With Spring comes the first holiday of the year: Easter! This year Easter falls on April 17th and there are several events happening that week for those who come to Savannah to celebrate!
Here are seven activities South Key Management recommends for getting in the Easter spirit.
The Thursday before Easter, you can catch Ben Folds in concert at District Live. Known for his group music (Ben Folds five), solo music, and collaborations, the concert promises to include a wide variety of songs from his repertoire. The concert starts at 8pm.
During the month of April, you can do an Early Bird’s Walking Tour every Saturday. Starting at 8am, the 2.7-mile walk takes you from the Davenport House Museum around the city showcasing the architecture and preservation efforts. You can reserve a spot ahead of time or show up the morning of.
Each month the Unity in the Community program has a River Street event. Stop by the April event located on River Street. Celebrate unity within the Savannah community with a weekend of arts and crafts, entertainment, and music. Spring Fling C-Port Food Rode runs from April 15-17th.
If you have kids, the Easter Egg Hunt at Fort McAllister State Park is the perfect pre-Easter activity. Saturday April 16th from 10am-12pm, children can bring a basket and participate in the Easter egg hunt.
Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with the family after on the park grounds.
Registration is required.
If you want to attend an Easter Mass while you are in town, there are churches of all denominations near Savannah’s Historic District.
If you are looking for a nondenominational church, there are several just outside the city, including Community Bible Church.
Visit each church’s website for specific mass times for Easter weekend.
Food is such a huge draw for Savannah and weekend brunch is in its own category. Local restaurants will be hosting weekend brunches, so all you have to do is choose what cuisine you are in the mood for. Check out our post on popular brunch spots or take a look at our Food & Bars page for more options.
Since it is a holiday weekend, reservations are a smart bet for wherever you want to eat.
We often recommend doing a cruise while in Savannah because it is such a unique way to see the city. Luckily, Savannah Riverboat Cruises is offering two cruises on Easter Sunday: one brunch cruise and one dinner cruise. The brunch cruise with the Easter bunny will set sail at 1pm, featuring brunch and lunch dishes. The dinner cruise will set sail at 7pm and feature a dinner buffet.
