At South Key Management, we think every month of the year is the perfect time to visit Savannah, but for some people February might not sound like the best to visit. However, there are several benefits to getting a little winter getaway in Savannah like lower accommodation prices and less tourists to contend with for dinner reservations.
If you think there will not be much going on, here are some fun events we are looking forward to next month.
What better way to start the new year than with a destination race? We know not everyone is a runner, but if you are, the Critz Tybee Run Fest would be a great way to get a race in while on vacation. Since Tybee Island is not too far from Savannah you can stay here and then dash over to Tybee Island for a race and stay to enjoy the beaches and food.
There are various race distances across the two days including: a kiddie run, 5k, 10k, half marathon, 2.8-mile beach run, and a 1 mile fun run!
If you have ever considered doing a murder mystery party but haven’t taken the plunge yet, the Dinner Detective is a great option. You will be part of the largest interactive comedy murder mystery dinner theatre show. While dining on one of three options (chicken marsala, grilled salmon, three cheese ravioli) you will have the opportunity to help solve a murder mystery!
Shows are located at the Hilton Garden Inn and will take place on February 5th and 12th.
For all the car enthusiasts, Street Lab is coming to Savannah on February 26th for an indoor car showcase. Located at the Savannah Convention Center, there will be vendors, models, music, games, and more. If you have a car to show off, register and then enjoy a scenic drive to Savannah for the show!
Register ahead of time for Cars on the Coast.
If you want to explore, check out the Page Island Oyster Roast Fundraiser. Done in support of the Outside Foundation, the Page Island Oyster Roast includes a round trip boat cruise to Page Island where you will have food (including oysters!), drinks, and even live music. While on the island you can hike along the hiking tails or take part in the live or silent auctions. All proceeds go to the Outside Foundation whose mission is to get kids outside to preserve nature.
The 1920’s theater that has been restored is hosting two fun events in February, one for music lovers and one for book lovers!
On February 12th at 7:30pm, you can catch the Savannah Philharmonic: Beethoven and Awadagin Pratt. The concert will feature the Piano Concerto No. 1 as well as Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony in addition to music from a few other composers.
On February 17th-20th, you can stop by the Lucas Theatre for the Savannah Book Festival. The Lucas Theatre is one location hosting some of the festival’s events, including talks from David Baldacci and William Kent Kruger.
Savannah is really lucky to have some exciting powerhouse musical artists coming this February. From older legends like Gladys Knight to newcomers like Morgan Wallen, we know these concerts are going to be great!
While February might not be as warm or scenic as other months, as you can see, there is no shortage of fun things to do in Savannah! Check out South Key Management to see our available accommodations for next month and book a winter getaway. Remember, South Key Management is the key to your Southern comfort!
