6 Romantic Dates in Savannah

We may be biased, but at South Key Management, we think Savannah is one of the most romantic cities for date night activities.

The main reason people travel is to spend time exploring a place different from where they live. Exploring a new city can be even more exciting with your significant other by your side. In Savannah, your couples getaway has the possibility of being one of the most romantic trips you'll ever take. Whether it's a romantic dinner in the historic district downtown or a hand-in-hand stroll through the Savannah Botanical Gardens, this beautiful city makes it easy to find one great date idea after another.

Here are five romantic dates our South Key Management employees recommend:

1 - Walk in Whitefield Square

Located in the southeast section of the Savannah Historic district, Whitefield Square is a park complete with a picture-perfect white gazebo. Take a romantic stroll down the beautiful oak-lined paths, have a romantic picnic, and take some Instagram worthy selfies at the gazebo. This quiet, romantic spot is perfect for talking and spending quality time with your loved one while enjoying the lovely weather and picturesque southern charm.

2 – Take a Trip to Tybee Island

If you're visiting Savannah, be sure be sure to take a day trip to Tybee Island. Located only an hour away from downtown Savannah, Tybee Island features a variety of fun date ideas like taking a romantic evening stroll along the beach at sunset or grabbing a bite to eat at one of the island's romantic restaurants. A popular place is A-J's Dockside Restaurant because not only do they have great food, but guests can sit outside and have a view of the pier as they eat.  Those with a car will enjoy taking a drive past the beautiful marshes and sand dunes. Looking for some more exciting date night ideas? Book a sunset cruise or close-up dolphin adventure. You can even rent bikes and spend date night peddling along the Savannah River!

3 – Dinner at The Collins Quarter

If you are looking for a nice dinner out with delicious food, look no further than The Collins Quarter. Offering candlelit dinners every night, this is the place to go for a romantic date night on the town. The Collins Quarter, has been open since 2014 and brings a taste of Australia to Savannah. Modeled after the historic Collins Street in Melbourne, The Collins Quarter offers a variety of foods from salads to steak and frites, the CQ classic, and even braised short rib. It's such a popular place in Savannah that it has two locations. Collins Quarter at Forsyth near Forsyth Park and Collins Quarter in downtown Savannah, just a couple blocks from the historic Savannah Theatre. Both locations are upscale Aussie cafes with delicious food and drinks you won't want to miss.

4 – Pack a Picnic

Picnicking in the park can be one of the most romantic date ideas in Savannah. We recommend the iconic Forsyth Park as it's the perfect place to grab your picnic basket and spend a relaxing afternoon outside with the one you love. This centrally located park is very popular for events, weddings, and photoshoots, but with over 30 acres of nature, it's also large enough that you can find a small spot for a private picnic. Plus, the Forsyth park is just minutes from downtown shopping and restaurants, as well as an ice cream shop or two. Pick up some charcuterie at a local store or try take-out from a restaurant downtown.

Looking for a picnic closer to the water? Head towards River Street to Reynold's Square where you'll find express eateries and plenty of places to sit and eat a romantic lunch. Afterwards, Stop at the Cafe at City Market for some fun, signature Savannah drinks. And be sure to check out Leopold's Ice Cream - Savannah's most popular ice cream parlor!

5 - Visit the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens

Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens is another fun date idea that features some of the most beautiful nature Georgia has to offer. Small cottage gardens and incredible nature trails make up this sprawling natural space. With 51 acres of plants and secluded gardens around every corner, it's the perfect spot to steal a few tranquil, romantic moments with that special someone. Find Botanical Gardens tickets and admission information here and be sure to check out their seasonal events before planning your visit.

6 – Grab Drinks on the Rooftop

One of the best ways to experience the city of Savannah is to spend an evening eating and drinking at one of the rooftop bars. For a fancy, fun date night, check out Peregrin - a rooftop bar that overlooks the Historic District in Downtown Savannah. Choose from specialty drinks, wine, and small plates of delicious southern cuisine during their happy hour.

For views of the river, check out Top Deck, where you can watch the ships that come and go while enjoying your drinks. Churchill's is another unique option with a rooftop terrace as well as specialty cocktails and classic British dishes.
