4 Ways to Spend Labor Day in Savannah

Some people consider Labor Day as the official end of summer. We know that kids are already back in school, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get away for the long weekend to celebrate! The weather is still warm and there are several exciting events happening over the long weekend!

Most people consider Labor Day the official end to summer. You may think it means that things are slowing, or the weather is getting cooler. But in Savannah, we are still having lots of warm weather and even several exciting events to celebrate the long weekend!

Here are four ideas South Key Management recommends if you are looking to spend Labor Day weekend in Savannah:

1 - Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash

Head to Tybee Island (also known as “Savannah’s beach”) on Sunday September 4th, to spend the day frolicking on the beach and grabbing a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants. Some fun activities to do are:

  • Dolphin tour
  • Lighthouse tour
  • Bike tour
  • Kayaking

If you want to grab a bite to eat, we love these restaurants:

End the day by attending the Labor Day Beach Bash, featuring a free concert from the Swingin’ Medallions on the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. We can assure you these folks know how to bring a crowd!

2 – Shabazz Seafood Festival

Do you like fish? Shrimp? Crab? How about all three?

If you do, you must take part in the annual Shabazz Seafood Festival! Serving the best fish in Savannah since 1989, Shabazz Seafood Restaurant has made their mark each Labor Day with their famous Shabazz Seafood Platter.

Stop by Shabazz Seafood Restaurant on West Victory Drive starting Friday September 2nd through Monday September 5th and order the Shabazz Seafood Platter to enjoy a dish with fish, shrimp, crab, fries, and salad. It is a dish that is sure to make everyone happy!
