Space

This home was built at the turn of the century and combined the popular federal design with aspects of antebellum and colonial styles. Beautifully kept through the years, the home still features original wood flooring, an original fireplace, and original hand-crafted crown modeling. Built on the grounds of the original Trustees’ Garden, this historic area of Savannah has played a significant role in Savannah’s history. First as an experimental garden, then as various military forts and Ironworks, and now as an incredible combination of beautiful venues. You are genuinely staying atop Savannah’s history with a stay at the Portside Retreat.
Take the cobblestone sidewalks to the main structure's private entrance on the north side. Enter at street level and step into a small foyer that connects to a curtain-separated den and opens directly to the main living room. Original hardwood floors, high ceilings, and a preserved fireplace bring you into Savannah’s rich past. The area has a new oversized sofa, smart TV ready for streaming, and a reading chase. The couch pulls out into a full mattress, with linens providing additional sleeping space. Enjoy a collection of literature found on the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf.
Separated from the living and foyer with a high ceiling draw curtain is the den configured with a new single bed, fresh linens, and a nightstand providing a perfect single-person sleeping space.
Off the living room, the door on the right leads to a galley kitchen with all new appliances, granite countertops, and a breakfast nook with bench seating. The kitchen is fully appointed with everything you need to cook during your stay, including small appliances, utensils, dishware, pots, and pans. See our complete amenity list for everything included.
To the left of the kitchen is the home’s ensuite featuring a private bathroom. A brand-new mattress wrapped in crisp linens provides a restful night's sleep, and stylish décor is accented by an abundance of natural light pouring in from the large window.
The bathroom has a new vanity, toilet, and shower/tub combination. Find all the essentials, including toilet paper, towels, body wash, shampoo, and a hair dryer.

I'd say one of the best and most convenient locations for those looking to see & explore history Savannah. Right next door to The Pirate's House (first house in Georgia) and right at the east end of River St, it was easy to walk everywhere, take the trolley tour, etc. The house is quaint & cozy and even though there was just the two of us, it worked out great for the space and the price. I highly recommend it!!

Brandon and Chase were very responsive, communicative and proactive. We would definitely rent from them again as they allowed us to enjoy a very relaxing Holiday weekend. The property was located in a great part of the city and just a few blocks from the Savannah river. The property was clean, had all imaginable necessities, very comfortable beds and was truly inviting.

The apartment was clean, and the kitchen very well stocked with anything needed for cooking a meal. Very comfortable bed. My wife loved the sheets. Very good location, near river walk, and historical area. My only suggestion is to have the outside light on a timer, or install a light sensitive bulb, so that the light is already on if you come (as we did), at night.

The house was pristine and decorated so cute. It felt like I was walking into a fully furnished home. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding was soft. The towels were also nice. A trolley stops in front of The Pirate House. I definitely recommend taking it to get the lay of the land and hear the history of Savannah. After you know where you are going, everything is within walking distance and what a beautiful walk it is in the fall.

my husband and I visited Savannah for 5 nights. The location was perfect, since we did not rent a car we were able to walk to everything, and the day we went to Tybee Island we took an Uber. the house had a perfect combination of old charm and modern amenities. Brandon and Chase were great communicators. we would definitely stay there again.!

Due to the storm (Helene) we had a rather unique experience, where the building had power, but a lot of the immediate area did not. So the area was very quiet for us, but that may be different for other visitors. Very walkable to all of the downtown Savannah area. Was a lovely long weekend stay for us.
