Space

The historic Murphy House was originally built for three "spinster" sisters and sold to a French artist (insert the Murphys) in the early 1900s who lived there for about 100 years. Many of their paintings can be found in the foyer/entry. Though there are many original features throughout this building, this unit has been renovated to keep up with the times and offer all of the common-era amenities like a full kitchen and central AC. There is a washer/dryer in the common area downstairs in the hallway should you need to do some laundry while you're here. Walking up the main steps to the parlor level of the home, you will walk into the foyer and up the second set of stairs to get to your unit (C). Upon entering you will greeted with a modern fully, equipped kitchen with a cozy den immediately to your left. Pour yourself a cocktail with our bar kit and enjoy good conversation, read a book, or watch your favorite show/movie on the smart TV on a rainy day. Walking straight past the den you will find your bedroom with a comfortable queen bed and thoughtful decor. Right around the corner, you will find your full bathroom with a walk-in tile shower and pedestal sink with lots of natural light for getting ready to go out on the town!

The Neighborhood

Walk right out onto Perry Street to the heart of historic Savannah and be greeted by Chippewa Square!! This is Savannah's "centerpiece" square where the statue of James Oglethorpe (Savannah's Founder) stands! Can't get any closer to history than that. Right across the way look up and be amazed at The Savannah Theater built in 1818, one of the oldest continuously run theaters in the US! Right next door to The Murphy House is one of our favorite casual restaurants, Fire Street Food with superb Asian-American cuisine and a modern flare. Just steps away from other restaurants and bars like Zunzi's, McDonough's, The Public Kitchen & Bar, Gallery Espresso, and much more. This location is chock-full of rich history, great restaurants, bars, and coffee shops at every turn!!

Getting around

You'll see the Old Town Trolleys circling the block all day long, get a DISCOUNTED ticket from us, and hop on Stop 6 (Madison Square) not even 2 blocks away. There is also a free trolley-style City transport bus called the "DOT Shuttle" that picks up and will make a loop around the Historic District. The closest stop for this one is just a block down the street at the corner of Drayton & Perry!
Parking is not included at this unit, however you can ditch your car at the Liberty Parking Deck (15 W. Liberty St.) and walk to EVERYTHING for your entire stay!

Guest Access

The entire apartment is for your use! We do ask that you kindly keep your neighbors in mind as there are several long-term renters in the building so just be courteous with your noise levels, particularly past 10 pm - 7 am. There is a washer/dryer in the downstairs common area in the hallway you may use for free.

House Rules Desc

Absolutely no animals are permitted whatsoever.

Please do not use our linens/towels to wipe off makeup or excessive dirt, we offer makeup wipes and paper towels for these reasons. Stained linens may result in a linen fee of up to $50 per item.

Please treat the home as your own and let us know if anything breaks. We are much more empathetic to those who are honest and upfront with us :)

Do not flush ANY thing other than toilet paper down the toilets ("flushable" wet wipes are not permitted either). If we have to call an emergency plumber and find that the cause of a blockage is due to something unpermitted being flushed, you will be subject to a $250 fee.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful location. The apartment was cute, clean and comfortable. Very comfortable bed. Many restaurants and coffee shops nearby. So close to everything you’d want to do in Savannah. Never needed the car one time. Loved sitting on the porch in the evening and watching the horse and buggies and ghost trolleys go by. Would go back in a minute and stay there again. Will be my # 1 recommendation of a place to stay to all my friends.

Staying at the Murphy House was an absolute dream! The location is unbeatable—right across from Chippewa Square and within easy walking distance to all the historic sites, charming shops, and amazing restaurants Savannah has to offer. The house itself is full of character, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. We especially loved the elegant Southern touches and cozy atmosphere that made it feel like a true home away from home. Communication with the host was smooth and welcoming from start to finish. If you’re looking for the perfect Savannah experience, this is it. We can’t wait to come back!

This Airbnb was exactly as described and truly in a wonderful location. 15 min walk to the water and still walkable to many parks nearby. Also close to many bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. Super comfortable bed/pillows and was very clean! Would highly recommend to others staying in the area.

Location!!! Truly can’t be beat. Nice apartment, although without any real dedicated outdoor space or view, once you step outside you’re right in Chippewa square! Comfortable with most of what you need for a visit to Savannah, especially if enjoying the shopping and dining options. Comfortable and good AC for those hot days when you need a siesta. Only downside is you do need to pay for parking and the nearby garage is $45 per day. The bed/mattress is quite soft foam, so runs hot and maybe not the best for more than a few nights unless that’s your preference!

We loved our stay! We can't recommend this place enough. It's a short walk to so many great restaurants, historical homes, city market, and river street. Plus, it's in such a beautiful square! Additionally, the hosts were amazing! If we had a question about something they were quick to respond and very helpful! So happy we were able to stay here and will definitely look at staying here again when we visit in the future!

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return! The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of beautiful and historic Savannah. We were steps away from great restaurants, a small market for convenience items, coffee shops, etc. The historic building was very welcoming, the apartment inside the home was as described. We felt very comfortable, the bed is soft and very relaxing. Everything was spotless. There were what looked like three other apartmets in the space, we never saw anyone else coming or going inside the home. We did notice occassional street noise from pedestrians and music from somewhere nearby at night (outside of the home). However we had a white noise machine and used it to help. It was not an issue for us, but could possibly be for very light sleepers. This is a perfect stay for a couple to have a relaxing get away and be within walking distance of everything. We parked our car in in the Liberty street garage and never moved it until it was time to go home.

This one bedroom apartment in a historic home was very clean, bed comfortable, quiet area. Half way to River Walk in one direction and Forsyth Park the other way. Excellent restaurants. Franklin’s 5 west Liberty Street was excellent for coffee and breakfast. Dinner at Collins Quarter and Wexford was excellent too. Would stay here again!

This place was great! Tucked just off the main strip, it’s quiet and pretty but close to everything. And the bed was so comfy. I would definitely stay here again.
