The Murphy House Hideaway is nestled in the absolute heart of Savannah yet tucked away toward the back of this historic building, away from all the bustling City noise, creating the perfect spot to call home while you're on vacation. You always hear "location, location, location," but don't realize how important it is until you find yourself enjoying it, and the Murphy House Hideaway will not disappoint! That we can assure you! :). Historic quintessential 1820s Savannah.
SVR-
The historic Murphy House was originally built for three "spinster" sisters and sold to a French artist (insert the Murphys) in the early 1900s who lived there for about 100 years. Many of their paintings can be found in the foyer/entry. Though there are many original features throughout this building, this unit has been renovated to keep up with the times and offer all of the common-era amenities like a full kitchen and central AC. There is a washer/dryer in the common area downstairs in the hallway should you need to do some laundry while you're here. Walking up the main steps to the parlor level of the home, you will walk into the foyer and up the second set of stairs to get to your unit (C). Upon entering you will greeted with a modern fully, equipped kitchen with a cozy den immediately to your left. Pour yourself a cocktail with our bar kit and enjoy good conversation, read a book, or watch your favorite show/movie on the smart TV on a rainy day. Walking straight past the den you will find your bedroom with a comfortable queen bed and thoughtful decor. Right around the corner, you will find your full bathroom with a walk-in tile shower and pedestal sink with lots of natural light for getting ready to go out on the town!
Walk right out onto Perry Street to the heart of historic Savannah and be greeted by Chippewa Square!! This is Savannah's "centerpiece" square where the statue of James Oglethorpe (Savannah's Founder) stands! Can't get any closer to history than that. Right across the way look up and be amazed at The Savannah Theater built in 1818, one of the oldest continuously run theaters in the US! Right next door to The Murphy House is one of our favorite casual restaurants, Fire Street Food with superb Asian-American cuisine and a modern flare. Just steps away from other restaurants and bars like Zunzi's, McDonough's, The Public Kitchen & Bar, Gallery Espresso, and much more. This location is chock-full of rich history, great restaurants, bars, and coffee shops at every turn!!
You'll see the Old Town Trolleys circling the block all day long, get a DISCOUNTED ticket from us, and hop on Stop 6 (Madison Square) not even 2 blocks away. There is also a free trolley-style City transport bus called the "DOT Shuttle" that picks up and will make a loop around the Historic District. The closest stop for this one is just a block down the street at the corner of Drayton & Perry!
Parking is not included at this unit, however you can ditch your car at the Liberty Parking Deck (15 W. Liberty St.) and walk to EVERYTHING for your entire stay!
The entire apartment is for your use! We do ask that you kindly keep your neighbors in mind as there are several long-term renters in the building so just be courteous with your noise levels, particularly past 10 pm - 7 am. There is a washer/dryer in the downstairs common area in the hallway you may use for free.
Absolutely no animals are permitted whatsoever.
Please do not use our linens/towels to wipe off makeup or excessive dirt, we offer makeup wipes and paper towels for these reasons. Stained linens may result in a linen fee of up to $50 per item.
Please treat the home as your own and let us know if anything breaks. We are much more empathetic to those who are honest and upfront with us :)
Do not flush ANY thing other than toilet paper down the toilets ("flushable" wet wipes are not permitted either). If we have to call an emergency plumber and find that the cause of a blockage is due to something unpermitted being flushed, you will be subject to a $250 fee.
