Description

Welcome to Heritage Loft at The Murphy House, once the home of famed French artist Murphy, now transformed into cozy, modern apartments. Enjoy preserved historic touches alongside fresh updates and amenities. The Loft features a spacious one-bedroom, one-bathroom setting, accommodating up to four guests. Nestled on Perry Street, next to Chippewa Square, you’ll relish the prime downtown Savannah location, close to incredible dining, attractions, pubs, shopping, and more.

Space

The historic Murphy House, built in the 1820s for three “spinster” sisters, later became the home of French artist Murphy, who lived here for nearly 100 years. Many of his original paintings still adorn the foyer today.
Enter your unit through the main entrance on the parlor level and ascend the staircase to the second floor. Step into a fully renovated apartment featuring ample space, modern amenities, and stylish décor, anchored by refinished original hardwood floors and historic touches.
The upgraded kitchen boasts new appliances, fresh white quartz countertops, and ample cabinet space. A small dining table set for four complements the fully appointed kitchen, equipped with everything you need to cook during your stay, including pots, pans, dishware, utensils, and more. A Keurig is ready to brew your morning coffee.
Off the kitchen is a spacious living area with modern furniture, creating a chic vibe while offering ample comfort. Natural light floods the room through surrounding windows. A smart TV is ready for streaming your favorite entertainment. The sofa pulls out into a queen mattress, accommodating a third or fourth guest.
The bedroom has two entrances, one from the living room and one from the kitchen hallway. A new queen mattress, crisp linens, and plush pillows ensure a restful night's sleep. Bench seating by the window offers a cozy reading nook.
Across the hallway from the bedroom is the unit’s single bathroom, featuring a single vanity and a low-entry shower. Custom tile work adds a fresh touch to the space. Essentials like toilet paper, towels, shampoo, body wash, and a hairdryer are provided.
The Murphy House also offers a common washer and dryer on the first floor, free for your use.

The Neighborhood

You can immerse yourself in Savannah's history and culture with a short stroll from your door. History abounds with sites like Harper Fowlkes House, Savannah Theatre, Telfair Museums, Beach Institute of African American Culture, and many more. Enjoy one of our favorite casual restaurants, Fire Street Food, as your neighbor, featuring excellent Asian-American dishes with a modern flare.
Excite your taste buds with the many excellent restaurants all a stone’s throw from the apartment. Grab incredible southern dishes at the highly-rated Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. Craving a diner? Check out Clary’s Café. Want your favorite vegan dish? Fox and Fig Café is minutes away. Jumpstart your hunger by taking a slightly longer 16-minute trip to Savannah River Street for more incredible dining like The Lady & Sons, Vic’s on the River, The Olde Pink House, and Treylor Park.
Fancy a pint? Stop into Six Pence Pub, a British-inspired pub just minutes down Liberty Street. Looking for that small dive bar? Check out The Original Pinkie Masters for a cash-only bar with great deals and incredible staff. Need the perfect cocktail? Slide over to the Artillery Bar, a sophisticated speakeasy in a restored armory with imaginative cocktails and an extensive bourbon list. Want to enjoy your drinks in a funky, art-inspired bar/restaurant? Check out Savoy Society. A homey bar/restaurant where pups are even welcomed!
Looking to do some local shopping or curb that sweet tooth? Take the short walk to the historic City Market and enjoy four blocks of storefronts and restaurants, including Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, The Little Crown by Pie Society, and Tree House Savannah, an incredible spot with a rooftop balcony, live music, and more. All right in the City Market!
Want to see it all at once while riding or biking? We are minutes from Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah and Savannah Bike Tours.

Getting around

Are you driving into town? There are no designated spaces but there is paid street parking directly available outside the unit (subject to availability). Still, you can park your vehicle at the Liberty Parking deck just minutes away and enjoy easy transit and walking for the remainder of your stay! Costs change but are roughly $7-15/day depending on day of week.
Circling the downtown, you will see Old Town Trolleys, a great way to get around. Get in touch with us to receive your DISCOUNTED ticket. A free trolley-style City transport bus called the "DOT Shuttle" also picks up and will make a loop around the Historic District. The closest stop for this one is just a block down the street at the corner of Drayton & Perry!
Want more options? Download the city’s local version of Uber called “The Downtowner.” Simply download the app, and they will pick you up for free!

Guest Access

The entire apartment is setup for you use! We have a pullout couch in the living room that you can pull out if you choose, and provide sheets and blankets for it.
You must walk up the main staircase out front to the Parlor level, and then another set of stairs inside to get to your floor.

House Rules Desc

Absolutely no animals are permitted whatsoever. Please do not use our linens/towels to wipe off makeup or excessive dirt, we offer makeup wipes and paper towels for these reasons. Stained linens may result in a linen fee of up to $50 per item. Please treat the home as your own and let us know if anything breaks. We are much more empathetic to those who are honest and upfront with us :) Do not flush ANY thing other than toilet paper down the toilets ("flushable" wet wipes are not permitted either). If we have to call an emergency plumber and find that the cause of a blockage is due to something unpermitted being flushed, you will be subject to a $250 fee.

Other things to note

This is in a historic home with multiple apartments and some having long-term tenants in place, so please be respectful to your neighbors and keep noise to a minimum especially from 10PM - 7AM. Always lock the main door when you leave.
You must walk up the main staircase out front to the Parlor level, and then another set of stairs inside to get to your floor.

Chase was very accommodating and responsive to questions we had during our stay. He went out of his way to drop off a wine opener when we mentioned we couldn't find one. He even brought us a bag of Savannah cookies. He went over and beyond! Great experience!

My two sisters and myself had such a lovely time back in our native city! The home was old and beautiful. Inside was completely renovated and posh. Can’t speak praises of this property enough! Wonderful, wonderful location to all the best spots in downtown Savannah. Look forward to booking this place again when I’m in town!

This location was perfect for us. If you're visiting Savannah and would like to stay somewhere that you feel like a local, this is the place to stay. Right in the middle of the heart of Savannah and amongst tons of great shops, restaurants and bars, you won't have to walk more than 10 minutes to get anywhere you'll want to visit. The apartment was very quiet considering the location which was great. And being on the second floor, you don't have to worry about loud footsteps which will be a thing no matter where you stay in Savannah if you're on the bottom floor. There was also plenty of space in the apartment. We stayed and "worked from home" for an entire week here and there was ample space for us to both work and take calls throughout the week. We visit Savannah often so this will definitely be on our short list of places to stay next time we visit!

Unfortunately, for the first time in 10 years as an Airbnb patron, I encountered my first host who was dishonest and lacked integrity. Living in Asheville NC and going thru Hurricane Helene, I contacted hosts 3.5 weeks before reservation asking to reschedule. Was told “get back to us when things settle down” with no contingency. On day of original reservation I got check in instructions. Reservation had not been changed or canceled. Reached out and was told since I had not given new dates, my reservation had begun. After vague and contradictory conversation I decided to make last minute, stressful trip in midst of hurricane recovery to at least use 2 of 3 nights paid for. At end of trip, Brandon and Chase apologized for confusion and offered to refund half my money. I agreed. Last communication said refund would be given on October 30th. They have not given refund and have NOT responded since that communication. Other reviewers have had same experience. Worst Airbnb experience.
