Summer is hands down the most popular time to visit Savannah with the warm weather, blooming flowers, and endless options for outdoor dining!
If you happen to be in Savannah for the July 4th weekend, you will also find a lot of patriotic activities occurring. South Key Management has rounded up a few activities for you to check out.
Of course, the most popular thing to do on July 4th no matter where you are is to catch the local fireworks! Within Savannah, there will be fireworks on River Street, more specifically at the West End of River Street starting at 9:15pm. We recommend getting there early with a blanket and chairs to stake out a good viewing spot!
If you want to travel a bit further away or are spending the day at the beach, Tybee Island is having fireworks on the pier at 9pm. There should be plenty of room on the beach to see them and have a comfortable spot. You can turn it into a beach picnic by grabbing some takeout from one of the many delicious restaurants on the island.
In true Savannah tradition, Savannah Bar Crawl is hosting a special July 4th bar crawl on Saturday July 2nd cleverly called Red, White, and Brews.
Red, White, and Brews will take place on from 4-10pm and stop by the following bars:
Tickets for the bar crawl are $30 per person and will get you a t-shirt and drink specials at each bar. Visit all the bars or pick a few of your favorites to try.
This year, Savannah’s Waterfront is hosting the Independence Day Festival and the annual fireworks show. There will be live entertainment, drink and food specials at several restaurants on the waterfront, and an arts and crafts fair. Festivities start Friday July 2nd and go through Monday July 4th.
Festival related events include:

Of course, River Street is always a popular destination for locals and visitors because of its views, shops, and food. During July 4th weekend, River Street will have live entertainment, games, America’s favorite food and drinks to take advantage of.
Since fireworks will take place at the West End of River Street at the end of the night, you can plan to spend Monday afternoon walking River Street’s Riverwalk then find a nice place to eat for dinner before the show at 9pm.
In addition to these special events, you will also be able to experience the other Savannah activities like going to Forsyth Park, visiting City Market, taking a trolley tour, or doing a walking ghost tour.
