Melissa Lee, the founder of New South Home, spent several years of her career in the fashion industry. During her time as a retail buyer, she developed an eye for balancing contemporary trends with timeless style — a skill that has served her well since founding New South Home in 2011. Her design work has been featured in local and national publications, including Elle Décor, Cottages & Bungalows, The Washington Post, and Home Design & Décor.
New South Home offers a comprehensive design experience that begins with listening to project needs, alongside space planning, styling, furnishing, and post-project check-ins. Their team has designed vacation rental properties in destinations such as Historic Savannah, Lake Norman, Mooresville, and Beech Mountain, as well as new homes, custom builds, large-scale renovations, luxury model homes, and sorority houses across the South.

To create a five-star stay with the perfect combination of comfort and style, New South Home made significant changes to these properties’ layouts to ensure the right “flow,” guaranteeing they offered all the essential functions without feeling crowded. For example, to bring more living space upstairs at Spacious Luxurious Townhome – 2 Blocks to Forsyth!, the design team converted the largest bedroom into a living room with a kitchenette and sealed off the entry to ensure privacy in the existing bedrooms.
New South Home collaborated with Chuck Stahl on the construction and remodeling of these properties, which included the installation of custom cabinets. And although they purchased several furnishings from wholesale partners, New South Home sourced a significant portion of its decor from antique stores and estate sales to maintain a timeless feel, which perfectly embodies the Southern charm we aim to capture in each of our properties in Savannah’s Historic District.
New South Home’s most recent design project with us, The Jungle House, is a stunning 1850s home near Bay Street. This property’s vibrant tropical design blends jungle motifs, such as pineapples, hibiscus, and palm leaves, with charming historic touches to create a colorful and playful escape that still honors the home’s authentic character. With its bold statement wallpaper, chic retro appliances, and stylish fixtures and furnishings — we don’t think you’ll find another stay like The Jungle House in Savannah!
