Plan a Beach Day at Tybee Island

There isn’t a better way to spend the summer in Savannah than at a Tybee Island beach!

Tybee Island is home to three main beaches — South Beach, Mid Beach, and North Beach — that each offer their own unique atmosphere and activities. We recommend heading to South Beach for water sports, like surfing or kayaking, and dining along the Tybee Island Pier, or heading to North Beach to visit iconic attractions like the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum or Tybee Island Marine Science Center.

Walk Around Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park is the perfect backdrop for a beautiful June day in Savannah!

Snap a photo by the Forsyth Park Fountain, take a walk through the Garden of Fragrance, get reservations for brunch at Collins Quarter, play tennis or basketball on the park’s courts, or shop from the vendors at the Forsyth Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Explore Fascinating Museums

If the afternoons in Savannah in June get too hot to spend time outside, stay cool by spending your days at one of the best museums in Savannah.

Learn about the history of the city at the Savannah History Museum, tour a historic house museum, like Owens-Thomas House or Mercer-Williams House, to appreciate the period-accurate architecture, or visit the American Prohibition Museum to learn more about Prohibition during the 1920s or to enjoy a cocktail from the hidden speakeasy inside the museum (contact us to learn how to get discounted tickets!).

Go on an Evening Ghost Tour

Another way to beat the heat in Savannah in June is to spend the afternoon inside… and head outside at night on a ghost tour in Savannah!

Savannah is one of the most haunted cities in the United States, so a ghost tour is a great way to immerse yourself in the city’s fascinating (and spooky!) history while seeing some of the city’s most prominent landmarks with entertaining commentary from knowledgeable tour guides. Most evening ghost tours include stops at haunted houses, squares, and cemeteries in Savannah, such as Colonial Park Cemetery and the Andrew Low House.
