Halloween Activities in Savannah, GA, for Spooky Entertainment & Festive Fun

Did you know that Savannah, GA, is considered one of the most haunted cities in the entire country? Due to Savannah’s tumultuous history, it is the prime spot for eerie events and even paranormal activity — making it undeniably one of the best cities for celebrating Halloween!

From pumpkin patches and ghost stories to haunted pub crawls and costume parties, Savannah offers no shortage of fun fall events and festive activities that will help you get into the spooky spirit of Halloween. Here are a couple of our top picks for celebrating Halloween in Savannah.

Fall Festivals & Pumpkin Patches

Cliché as it may be, we cannot turn down a good old pumpkin patch and fall festival. Even as adults, there is something magical about going back to a pumpkin patch. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia, or the apple cider donuts, or the picture-perfect opportunities for a family photo!

We recommend visiting one of these pumpkin patches near Savannah for some Halloween fun:

  • Ottawa Farms is located 20 minutes from Downtown Savannah. This 350-acre family-owned farm hosts a family-friendly fall festival with a corn maze, petting zoo, hayrides, and a pumpkin patch in October and November, making this the perfect event for celebrating Halloween in Savannah!
  • Madrac Farms is less than a 45-minute drive from Downtown Savannah and is one of the best Savannah Halloween events for the whole family! Explore the three-acre corn maze, visit the petting zoo, and pick a pumpkin from the patch to carve into a jack-o-lantern.
  • Holiday Farms, located in South Carolina, is only a 30-minute drive north of Savannah. This pumpkin patch provides tons of festive fun and activities for the whole family, including duck races, cow milking, barrel train rides, and, of course, a pumpkin patch!

Ghost Tours & Haunted Houses

There isn’t a better place to go on a ghost tour this Halloween than Savannah — one of the most haunted cities in the United States! The ghost tours in Savannah not only provide entertainment and cater towards ghost hunters who want to chase down some paranormal activity, but also offer a real look into the haunted history and charm of our beloved city.

Here are a few of the most frightening haunted houses and ghost tours in Savannah that we recommend and are perfect for celebrating Halloween in Savannah:

  • The Witching Hour Ghost Touris an engaging ghost tour led by a local paranormal tour guide who uses dowsing rods, a spirit box, and EMF detectors to search for ghosts and spirits.
  • Hearse Ghost Tours offers a fun, eerie, and entertaining ride through Savannah’s Historic District inside a real converted hearse — the perfect way to celebrate the spookiest holiday of the year!
  • Ghost City Tours offers several spooky ghost adventures perfect for Halloween, including the Grave Tales Tour, Beyond Good and Evil Tour, Dead of Night Tour, and Savannah Pub Crawl.
  • Ghost & Gravestones of Savannah offers an open-air trolley ride through haunted cemeteries, antebellum mansions, and bloody battlegrounds in Historic Savannah with stops at two of Savannah’s most haunted locations — the Andrew Low House and Perkins & Sons Ship Chandlery.
  • Bonaventure Cemetery After Hours tours are held on Saturday nights year-round, but October is a great time to take this storytelling tour to learn more about Savannah’s haunted history. The tour is three hours and is led by author and filmmaker Shannon Scott.

C‍ostume Parties & Local Events

Savannah hosts Halloween events for people of all ages — from costume contests and trick-or-treating events for kids to bar crawls for adults… and even festivals that cater to your furry family members! As Halloween approaches, be sure to add one (or more!) of these events to your calendar:

  • Wag-O-Ween is a pet-friendly community event in Savannah that lets dogs (and their humans!) dress up and go trick-or-treating at participating businesses in the Downtown and Starland Districts. This event supports local animal rescues and raised more than $100,000 to help animals in need in 2024!
  • A Nightmare on Congress Street Bar Crawl is the scariest Halloween bar crawl in Savannah, hosted by Savannah Bar Crawl. Last year’s event took place on Friday, October 31st, and Saturday, November 1st, for two full days of ghouls, goblins, ghosts, and good times. This bar crawl includes drink specials at popular Savannah bars on Congress Street and a costume contest!
  • Trick-or-Treat on River Street is a fun event for kids that usually takes place on the Saturday before Halloween. After your kids get dressed up in their Halloween costumes, head down to River Street to snag candy and treats from participating businesses, like Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.
  • Hewitt Oaks, an event venue located 30 minutes from Downtown Savannah in Bluffton, SC, hosts a Spooky Soirée that includes complimentary wine and cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, catered food stations, desserts, prizes, photo opportunities, dancing, and more!
  • Ghost in the Post is an annual 21+ Halloween party hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 135, featuring a costume contest, food, raffles, and dancing.
  • The Annual Candle Lantern Tour at Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill is a can’t-miss Halloween event in Savannah! Between 6:30 PM and 10 PM, you can go on a historical tour of the fort led by candlelight with horse-mounted soldiers and nighttime cannon firings! Last year’s event took place on October 4th, but details for this year’s event have not yet been released.
  • SCAD Savannah Film Festival is a great October event in Savannah for those who want to opt out of the spooky. This award-winning event celebrates the creativity of award-winning professionals and student filmmakers through film screenings, special screenings, workshops, panels, lectures, and other events. The festival will be held from October 24th to 31st in 2026.
