1. Farewell to Summer Labor Day Weekend Celebration at the Plant Riverside District

Savannah’s Plant Riverside District hosts a four-day celebration to say farewell to summer that starts on Friday, August 29th, and ends on Monday, September 1st. From live music to arts and crafts, here are a few of the activities you can enjoy at the Plant Riverside District during Labor Day:

  • Live Music — Listen to local bands and artists perform at various venues on River Street and in the Plant Riverside District all weekend long, including the Riverside Biergarten, Montgomery Stage, Myrtle & Rose, Riverside Pavilions, and Electric Moon Skytop Lounge.
  • Dance Parties —Adults 21+ can head to Electric Moon Skytop Lounge on Friday and Saturday night from 8 PM to 12 AM to listen and dance to tunes from a live DJ while sipping on signature cocktails, eating snacks, and soaking up views of the Savannah River from the Moon Deck.
  • Art in the Park — Looking for some entertainment for the kids? Head to Martin Luther King Jr. Park in the Plant Riverside District for free arts and crafts activities, including face painting and bracelet making, on Saturdays and Sundays in the afternoons.
  • Fountain Shows — Every evening, head to the fountain at Martin Luther King Jr. Park for live music events. Allow kids to wear their swimsuits so they can splash in the fountain!

2. Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash

As summer comes to a close, round up the whole family for one last beach day at Tybee Island, packed with some of the best things to do on Tybee Island, from dolphin-watching tours and kayaking adventures to boutique shopping and oceanfront dining experiences.

The Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash, which starts on Friday, August 29th and ends on Sunday, August 31st, is the perfect event for soaking up the relaxed island vibes for one last time before summer ends. Hosted at the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion, this event offers a lively beachfront concert, and admission is free!

3. Brews, Barks & Bites Festival

Brews, Barks & Bites Festival is an annual festival hosted by The Kimpton Brice during Labor Day weekend to raise money for the Humane Society of Greater Savannah. Although the details for the 2025 event have not yet been released, last year’s event took place on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend from 12 to 4 PM.

For $75, this event includes delicious eats from Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, live music, beer tastings during a local brewery competition, free treat bags for furry friends, and adoptable pets, including kittens and puppies. All pet owners should add this event to their Savannah itinerary during Labor Day weekend!

4. Shabazz Seafood Festival

If you consider yourself a fan of fish, crab, or shrimp, you can’t miss the chance to attend the Shabazz Seafood Festival at Shabazz Seafood Restaurant during Labor Day weekend.

From Friday to Monday, Shabazz Seafood Kitchen will be serving its iconic Shabazz Seafood Platter from 12 PM to 6 PM, which includes fish, shrimp, crab, fries, and a salad. Be sure to stop by for this delicious meal while you can! Before visiting, watch Episode Two of Fresh Fried and Crispy on Netflix for an insider’s look at this famous Savannah restaurant, which has been around since 1989.

5. Labor Day Weekend at Fort McAllister State Park

Labor Day Weekend at Fort McAllister State Park

If you’d like to spend your weekend in Savannah learning a little more about the area’s local history, head to Fort McAllister State Park on the Sunday before Labor Day from 11 AM to 2 PM for an educational and entertaining day that the whole family will love!

This event costs $6–10 per person and includes a family-friendly game of wiffle ball, a water balloon fight, and a watermelon eating contest. The highlight, however, is that living historians will be firing muskets throughout the day, offering a glimpse back in time to the Civil War in Savannah.
