Our Ultimate Guide to Easter in Savannah (2025)

Spring’s arrival in Savannah means Easter weekend is just around the corner! This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 20th, and those visiting Savannah during this time will find no shortage of fun activities and events to celebrate the holiday — from festive egg hunts and delicious brunches to river cruises with the Easter Bunny and beautiful church services.

So, regardless of how you choose to celebrate, gather your friends and family and join in on one (or more!) of the following fun things to do in Historic Savannah for Easter!

Best Events and Activities to Celebrate Easter Weekend in Savannah

1. Easter Egg Hunts

Though there are dozens of local egg hunts throughout Savannah during Easter weekend, one of the most popular egg hunts for kids of all ages is the Easter Egg Hunt at Fort McAllister State Park.

This year, this event falls on Saturday, April 12th, from 9 AM to 12:30 AM. The event costs $10 per participant and $5 per vehicle to park. Children are grouped by age for the egg hunt to keep the hunt competitive for each group — kids aged 2–3 start at 10 AM, 4–6 at 10:45 AM, and the 7–8 and 9–12 age groups start at 11:30. Registration opens on March 1st.

Looking for a free egg hunt in Savannah that the whole family will love? Check out the following events:

  • Easter Egg Hunt at Service Brewing Co. — The Easter Egg Hunt at Service Brewing Co. will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, from 12 PM – 3 PM. No registration is required, and the event is free, though a $5 donation per child is recommended.
  • Easter Eggstravaganza at Lake Mayer — The Easter Eggstravaganza at Lake Mayer Community Park on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, from 11 AM – 1 PM is a free event for all ages! It includes face painting, games, activities, and, of course, an egg hunt! You can secure your tickets online.

2. Easter Church Services

A glowing cross illuminates a church stage as a congregation raises their hands in worship.

If you want to attend an Easter Mass or Sunday service while you are in town, there are churches of all denominations near Savannah’s Historic District and even on Tybee Island that you can visit. Whether you’re looking for an Easter sunrise service or something later in the day so you can enjoy Easter brunch first, you’ll find one that works for you from the following list:

  • Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist (Catholic) — The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist will hold Easter Mass at 8 AM, 10 AM, and 11:30 AM.
  • St. John’s Church (Anglican) — St. John’s Church will hold a Family Service with Holy Communion from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM and an Easter Service with Sung Holy Communion from 11:30 AM – 12 PM on Easter Sunday. Sunday School will be from 10 AM – 11 AM.
  • Lutheran Church of the Ascension (Lutheran) — Lutheran Church of the Ascension will hold two Ascension Worship Services from 8:30 AM – 9:30 and 11 AM – 12 PM, a Sunday Breakfast at 7 AM, and an Easter Brunch from 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM.

Planning to spend some time at the beach during your Easter vacation? No problem! Tybee Island churches invite visitors to their Easter services as well. Some popular churches to visit on Tybee Island for Easter service include Trinity Chapel Methodist Church or Saint Michael’s Catholic Church.

3. Easter Sunday Brunch

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Easter Sunday than making reservations for a delicious Easter brunch in Savannah with the entire family! Though we have several recommendations for the best places to eat in Savannah for breakfast, here are a few of the top restaurants we recommend for a spectacular brunch on Easter Sunday:

  • Collins Quarter — With two locations in Historic Downtown Savannah, Collins Quarter is a convenient (and delicious!) spot for a delightful Easter breakfast. Both locations offer innovative, fresh, and flavorful breakfast dishes and boozy brunch cocktails.
  • Mirabelle Savannah — Specializing in fluffy Liege waffles and handcrafted coffee, this spot couldn’t be better for Easter brunch. If you plan to attend a service at Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, this cozy brunch spot is right across the street!
  • Huey’s on the River — For a more traditional Southern-style brunch with a bit of flair from New Orleans, head to Huey’s on the River on River Street. Along with a delicious brunch, you’ll also be treated to beautiful river views during your meal!

4. Easter Cruises

We usually recommend cruising on the Savannah River during a trip to Savannah because it is such a unique way to see the city. Luckily, Savannah Riverboat Cruises offers two special holiday cruises on Easter Sunday — an Easter Brunch Cruise and an Easter Dinner Cruise!

The Easter Brunch Cruise boards at noon, sails from 1 PM to 2:30 PM on Sunday, April 20th, and includes a trip down the Savannah River with the Easter Bunny! It costs $79.95 per adult and $49.95 for children aged 5–12. The Easter Dinner Cruise boards at 6 PM, sails from 7 PM to 9 PM on Easter Sunday and includes a delicious dinner buffet and live entertainment. It costs $99.95 per adult and $52.95 for children aged 5–12. Children under the age of four can join both cruises for free.
